As part of a 24-hour online global vigil, organized by Together We Remember, to conclude Genocide Awareness Month, the Beau Bassin Jewish Detainees Memorial & Information Centre in Mauritius organized a one hour programme, which included an interview with the Honorary Consul of Mauritius in Israel, Tali Regev, who was born in the camp in 1944; a conversation with Vanessa Calou, the education officer of the Beau Bassin Memorial sharing stories of those who died in the camp and are buried in the local Jewish Cemetery; and a virtual visit to the cemetery, in memory of the 128 refugees who died in Mauritius.
